Poem in Silence is an explosive setting of my own poem of the same name. The poem is about the experience of having an epileptic fit, and most particularly the sensation of detachment and calm at the heart of the experience.

Forming the apotheosis of the poem is the idea of time being detached and experience being non-linear e.g. “the seconds jumped” referring to the second hand of an analog clock appearing to jump forward as I moved in and out of consciousness. The setting is of the first stanza of the poem and attempts to re-introduce the violence and distressing qualities of the fit itself.
